Refund policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

This policy explains how refunds work for tickets bought through EventSeas and for vessel bookings made on EventSeas. It does not cover cruise fares, which you buy from the cruise line or operator, or tickets bought on another website.

The short version

  • The host sets the refund rules for their event. You can see them on the event page, under Tickets, before you buy.
  • The host issues the refund. Tickets are sold by the host, on the host’s own payment account. EventSeas is the platform that connects you.
  • Free RSVPs cost nothing, so there is nothing to refund.
  • Vessel bookings take no payment on EventSeas. Any deposit or refund is agreed with the vessel’s operator.

Tickets bought on EventSeas

Every event that sells tickets through EventSeas shows one of four refund policies:

  • No refunds. Ticket sales are final, unless the event is cancelled (see below).
  • Full refund up to 7 days before sailing. Ask by the deadline and you get the ticket price back.
  • Full refund up to 30 days before sailing. The same, with a longer window.
  • Custom policy. The host writes their own terms, shown in full on the event page.

Read the policy before you buy. By paying, you accept the policy shown on the event page at that moment.

If an event is cancelled or changed

If a host cancels an event, ticket holders are entitled to a full refund of the ticket price, whatever the event’s usual policy says. The host issues it from their sales page.

If the dates, the ship or the programme change in a way that makes the event materially different from what you bought, talk to the host first. Most are glad to find a fix, and a refund is the fallback.

How to ask for a refund

  1. Open your ticket page from your confirmation email, or from My tickets if you have an account.
  2. Use the Message button on the event page to write to the host. Say which order and how many tickets.
  3. The host reviews it and, if it is within their policy, refunds the order or the individual tickets from their sales page.

Hosts can refund a whole order or only some of its tickets. Refunded tickets are cancelled straight away: their QR codes stop working and the places go back on sale.

What is refunded

  • The ticket price you paid, in full, in the currency you paid in. Card processing fees are the host’s cost, not yours, so they are never taken out of your refund.
  • The EventSeas fee is paid by the host, not added to your price. It is returned to the host when a whole order is refunded, and kept when only some tickets are.
  • Tickets that have been checked in cannot be refunded through EventSeas, because they have been used.

When the money arrives

Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Once the host issues one, most banks show it within 5 to 10 business days, and some take longer. Neither the host nor EventSeas can speed that up, so please check with your bank before contacting us.

Disputes and chargebacks

Please talk to the host before you ask your bank to reverse a charge. If a dispute is opened, the tickets in that order are put on hold while it is decided. If the dispute is lost, the tickets are voided. Refunds the host or your bank make outside EventSeas are picked up automatically, and your ticket status updates to match.

Tickets bought somewhere else

Many events sell tickets on the host’s own site or a ticketing platform and link to it from their listing. Those purchases are governed by the seller’s refund policy, not this one, and EventSeas cannot see or change them. The event page says where tickets are sold.

Vessel bookings

Booking a vessel on EventSeas records who has which dates. It does not take payment. Dates are held for 15 minutes while you complete a booking, and a request to the operator is held until they answer, which is within 48 hours unless the vessel says otherwise.

  • You can cancel a booking from your bookings. This frees the dates and tells the operator.
  • Any deposit, payment or cancellation fee is arranged directly between you and the operator, under the booking terms on the vessel’s page. Please read them before you confirm.
  • If you paid an operator and want a refund, ask the operator. EventSeas does not hold that money.

Cruise fares

The cruise or charter itself is usually booked separately from the event, with the cruise line or operator. Its cancellation and refund terms are theirs. A cruise-line refund does not automatically refund an event ticket, or the other way round, so check both.
