These terms are the agreement between you and EventSeas when you use eventseas.com, our community and our tools. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use EventSeas.
What EventSeas is
EventSeas is a directory and community for events at sea. Hosts and vessel operators list events and vessels, visitors discover them, and members connect through Crews and messages. We also offer optional ticketing for hosts and a Host an Event service that helps groups plan a sailing.
We do not run the events, own the ships or sell the cruises. Events are organised by their hosts, vessels are run by their operators, and each of them is responsible for what they offer. When you buy a ticket or book a vessel you are dealing with them, not with us.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Your handle is permanent and is also your sign-in name.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us quickly if you think someone else is using it.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts to get around a suspension or a block.
- Confirm your email address. Some features, such as listing, claiming, posting and messaging, need a confirmed email.
How you may use EventSeas
Use the site lawfully and respectfully, and follow our Community guidelines. You must not:
- post anything unlawful, deceptive, hateful, harassing or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- list an event or vessel you have no right to list, or misstate its dates, price, location or what it includes;
- send spam, run scams, or collect other people’s information without their permission;
- scrape the site in bulk, probe it for weaknesses, overload it, or get around its security, rate limits or access controls;
- impersonate another person or business, or falsely claim a listing.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post: listings, pictures, posts, comments, messages and profile details. By posting, you give EventSeas a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and promote that content on and around the service (for example in search results, social previews and our newsletter), for as long as it is on the site.
You promise that you have the right to post it and that doing so does not break the law or anyone’s rights. Pictures and files you upload are stored in our media library and may be reachable by anyone who has the link, so do not upload anything private.
We may remove or restrict content, or suspend an account, that breaks these terms or the guidelines, or that we reasonably think puts people or the service at risk.
Adult events
Some events are for guests aged 18 or over and are marked Adult. Their pictures are blurred until you choose to view them. By choosing to view them you confirm you are at least 18. Adult events may only use external ticket links or free RSVPs.
Listings, tickets and bookings
Hosts and operators are responsible for their listings being accurate and for the events and vessels themselves. We do not check every listing, and a listing appearing on EventSeas is not an endorsement.
Tickets sold through EventSeas are sold by the host, using the host’s own payment account, under the host’s refund policy and our Refund policy. Vessel bookings made on EventSeas record dates only: no payment is taken, and any deposit or fee is agreed with the operator. Hosts and operators also agree to our Host terms.
Other people’s services
The site uses services from other companies, including Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for spam protection, OpenStreetMap for maps and place search, YouTube for embedded video and an email service for newsletters. Their terms apply to your use of them. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for what is on them.
Our content
The EventSeas name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. You may use the site for its intended purpose, but you may not copy or resell it.
Risks and our responsibility
Travelling and gathering at sea carries risks that no website can remove. You take part in events at your own risk and should check an event’s details, safety information, age limits, accessibility and insurance with its host before you go.
EventSeas is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for events or vessels listed by others, for what members post, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. When an account is deleted, the things described in our Privacy policy are removed, and any listings you own are unpublished.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service grows. If a change matters, we will tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect. Using EventSeas after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, and disputes will be decided in the courts there, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
